She was first a research assistant during her graduate studies and later a researcher at the Networks and Applied Telematics Group of USB. Her expertise is for the most part in the fields of wireless communications design, telemedicine, e-health, and network QoS analysis. She has worked on several funded R&D projects, among them, a pilot project to design a municipal telemedicine wireless network aimed at improving the quality of primary health care centres in remote rural communities. Other research topics include the development of applications for mobile automatic patient identification and access to e-health records using 2D graphics code recognition in smart-phones. She is the author of several articles published in national and international technical journals.
She is currently a senior researcher at Life Supporting Technologies Group at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain, where she has worked on affective computing (AC) and Virtual Reality (VR) environments for e-inclusion and Ambient Intelligence (AmI) applications. Her present research activity is primarily oriented toward the development of e-health solutions using advanced VR interfaces.
